with my usual day-to-day driving in the city im getting 16 mpg
only 5% like an idiot? i'm guilty of 99% unless someone else is riding with me, then i dont unless they drive like an idiot too when im in their's.

My 4.6 is getting slightly better mileage than my old 4.2L gave me. I find myself not having to dig into the pedal as much to make it do anything. THe only problem now is that I like stepping into it so I can hear the V8 work, god I love V8s.

I'm mostly in stop and go traffic with a top speed of about 50mph. The 4.2L in my 99 gave me about 14/15mpg (129k miles but well maintained) and my 4.6L in the 08' is getting about 16mpg in the same traffic.

honestly i cant tell you city or highway mileage but a combined with a very heavy foot still yields 17.5-17.9 consistantly. winter is different from the winter mix gas and weight in the bed and tires losing pressure from the cold. got 15.42 last tank. that was with a bed full of heavy snow too. i shoveled it out last week and the truck feels a lot better. pretty much the only place i feel the weight is when braking. and the thing about having to get into the V6 to get it to move is kinda right. my 04 heritage with a 3.08 rear end was that way. my 08 with the 3.55 is not.

I filled up tonight. 15.33 not too bad considering I've let it idle for 10 minutes before school this week while I get ready and the winter blend crap.

yeah i try to keep mine between 2k and 5k lol. my 08's 4.2 falls on its face at 5k. my 04 heritage went a little farther and lost power but didnt fall as quick as the 08. plus the limiters are different. 08's is 5200, 04's was 5400. raced an early to mid 90's celica GT yesterday and got him. so far out of my close races i am 9 wins and 3 losses. not counting the ones at the track during time trials that i had no choice. like a modded 88 5.0 stang that ran in the low 13s. i had no choice in the matter who i ran against. but even with those i am 9 and 5.

forgot to mention that the 3 losses were the same truck but i also beat him twice. that was already factored in tho.

Timmy, you never cease to amaze me. This is a thread about getting better gas mileage, but you start talking about racing. WTF?

honestly if the truck has a recent tune-up there is really nothing you can do.

just drive like a grandpa, keep any extra weight out of the cab and bed and enjoy the slow lane.

sorry guys. guess the talking about driving like an idiot got me typing like one too lol.
anyways i have not filled up lateley but i can tell a huge difference since i shoveled the snow out of the bed. i would guess it added 1-1.5mpg but the winter mix fuel still takes away a bit. i also have to inflate my tires more. after driving for 20miles i checked them and the fronts were 33psi and the rears were 32 and 31. my low tire pressure light has been on for about a month when the temps went into the single digits.
