Synthetic vs. Conventional
Synthetic vs. Conventional
Ive run 5w20 Full Syn my last two oil changes and first oil change was conventional 5w20. Im not noticing any gain in power or cleanliness of the oil at my 3000 mile changes. Should I continue to pay out the butt for good full syn or just go back to conventional?
I use full syn 5-20 and pay 34dollars all together at walmart this includes my filter. I used to pay double that at the parts store and as far as the stealership is concerned i have only been there once and that was to buy some spark plugs.
I also agree just keep the 5 20 semi syn from Ford.
Somebody that I know real well told me to run Castrol Edge full syn. and it was like 50 -60 bucks. I thought to myself well at least I know I can go up to or over 4000 miles with the motorcraft. So that is what I had kept in the crank case.

Oh I change every 3000 on the dot. And I run my truck pretty hard. I just wanted to know if Full SYN is really better or just good to sell to idiots that dont even know how to read a dip stick. I worked as a mechanic all through college and I could never tell the difference.
I run royal purple in my truck its awesome i can definitly feel the hp i only have 2 other modifications a k&n airfilter and a cherry bomb extreme muffler it may be expensive but royal purple and a k&n oild filter means i can go about 6500 miles on on oil change instead of 3000
You need to make sure there putting synthetic in there i work at walmartdoing oil changes its suppose to be $55 for a sythetic oilchange
I think he probably means he just buys the oil and filter at walmart and that's the price, as opposed to paying someone at walmart automotive for an oil change.
once you run synthetic you CANNOT go back to conventional. synthetic oil seats the piston rings differently and if you run conventional then you will get blow-by and your engine will burn oil
I ran mobil motorcraft and royal purple and i gotta say there was a lil difference with the royal purple but i think thats just my way of thinking to conpensate the money i spend on buying it
