Brake booster

I have a question about my brake booster. How do you tell if its bad? The reason why i ask is my pedal to me is soft. I made sure there wasnt any air in the lines, and pads and rotors are great shape. I also work in the automotive departments and i pull a lot of f150s in and out and some have brake pedals that you barly touch and they start to grab, mine gose down about 1 and a half before it grabs. Anyone help me?

Turn off the truck. Press the brake pedal. How many times does it take before it gets hard?

Mine takes 5 full pumps before there is no more boost.

That is the opposite symptom of a leaking brake booster. If the booster is not working, you would have to be standing on the pedal to stop the truck. Sounds as if you may have air in the line or a bad master cylinder. Thereis the rod adjustment thing too, if the pedal goes down too far before it starts engaging.

Sounded like air to me as well but i cracked the lines and solid steam of fluid came out. Maybe i still have some traped in there from when i flushed out the old stuff. I will make sure again its bleed right. And whats the adjustment thing about i have never heard of it?

The NBS trucks probably have larger boosters.

My Dakota I get 3 and that was built back in '00.

Adjustment

Yeah, i read that part as well. I think i got it just right, but then again we will se with a little time, brakes dont seem to drag or slow down the truck when crusing, i think i might play with it a lil more tomarrow so i can get it right done to "near perfect". Seeing as its easy and all, i be willing to bet my truck was like this from day one.
