V6 heater core hose

Hey guys!

I have a leak *(more like a waterfall) of coolant coming out of a hose nipple on the firepanel (passenger side) of my 98 F-150. I am assuming that I'm just missing the hose entirely, but I was wondering if anyone had a picture of that nipple and what it should look like with a hose on it. lol I just wanna make sure that I am not putting a hose on a overflow spot or something. Any information will be helpful.

I posted pictures in the order they are zooming into the problem. So you have an idea where I'm lookin! Thanks! Nate

So I'm not the only one.

Hate to tell you man, but your gonna need a new heater core. What's happening is there is a leak somewhere in the core itself, causing the coolant to drain out, as you have noticed.

The drain is there for that purpose, so don't worry about it being somewhere it's not supposed to be.

Sad thing is, it takes roughly 5-7 hrs to pull the dash on a '97-'03 F-150.

Hope it turns out well for you.

Seems to be a trend with these trucks. I had mine go out, had it replaced, and not even 3 months later had electrolysis eat a hole in the aluminum.

Check and see if you have some kind of warranty on the heater core. Most come with a 1 yr. Will take the pain off the wallet a good bit.

Good luck.
