After market throttle body??

So, I spoke with directly with Fords customer care center today. I was informed that the company that made the throttle body went out of business. They had to find a new company to make the part (which they have) but they are currently only running tests and the throttle body assembly will not be available until sometime in November. In case you missed what's going on with my truck, well, it has a faulty throttle body sensor that shorts out randomly. I am under the full bumper to bumper warranty but there is nothing my dealer can do because they cannon get the part. So, I'm dealing with a truck that could potentially leave me stranded somewhere. Ford offered absolutely no help and no solution at all. I will definitely be speaking with someone else tomorrow. The only resolution they offered was for me to try and find an after market throttle body, have the dealer pay for it, install it and Ford would pay for it. Doesn't seem right to me.

I am supposed to be moving from Vermont to Austin, TX on Oct. 1st. Now I might have to just sell my truck since I don't trust driving it that far. I told Ford I've been losing money not being able to use the truck and might have to sell it. They didn't care at all. ******* them. I didn't buy a brand new truck to deal with this.

What would you guys do in this situation?

give them the keys and point to a nice FX4 on the lot and tell you be using that and for them call you when they get it right...

x2 ^ ^ ^

But I doubt that will work. If they are willing to pay for a new aftermarket TB including install, taxes etc.. then I'd go that route.

Update...

There are no after market TB's for the NBS F150s. They only make them for trucks up to 2003. I guess the newer ones have a lot more crazy parts and no one wants to deal with it.

Anyway, I found some used TB's from "online jumkyards." Ford is going to pay for one of them and install it until the actual new OEM part is available.

Good enough for me. My local dealer has been really great. The dude down there is very helpful. Ford headquarters on the other hand, not so great. They didn't offer any resolution. Oh well, I don't care as long as my truck works and I don't have to worry about a 2008 with 14k miles leaving me stranded ha.

the NBS have ETB with a difference TPS as I recall. OBS uses the standard cable-derived system.

Update

So Ford HQ called me back again. They located a batch of 350 new throttle bodies. They are giving them to people in the bumper to bumper warranty only. I was added to the list and will have one shipped to my dealer with in about a week.

Thanks Ford for coming through.
