For the 3rd and last time - HAVE YOU READ THE PART NUMBER OFF THE STICK?
no becasue i my bro owned the pickup before me. and he told me it has the same stick... so it has the same stick that it came with from day one... and im sure ford would not put the wrong stick in it.........

WHAT IS SO GODDAM HARD ABOUT PULLING THE STICK, READING THE PART NUMBER, AND LOOKING IT UP JUST TO MAKE SURE???

Get your head out of your @$$. I give up.

People try to help you but you can't do something REALLY SIMPLE that they ask - I ain't gonna bother trying to help you any more. I'll use my time helping people who are more appreciative.

simple terms as glc already mentioned.

drained it...

took the old oil filter off

put the new one on

put 5 quarts in or 5.5 whatever

start engine and run for 30 sec so oil will run through new filter.

Check level again and add as necessary

looked at the stick made sure the collar was not loose or anything. (it wasnt)
after putting the 5 quarts in it was 1/4 of the way up in the safe zone. put the other 1/2 in and it is now at the top again.
that might be why... here is how i do it.
1-take drainplug out, let it drain,
2-once it is dripping slowly, put plug back in but not all they way, only until no more oil comes out
3-take off filter, let it drain
4-put new filter on
5-take plug back out, more oil will come youd be surprised how much
6-put plug back in
7-fill it up, let it sit for 5 mins or so
8-start it up, my method is to let it idle for about 10 secs, then rev it to 2k for about 10 secs then 3k for only about 3-5 seconds just to make sure no noises are coming from it.
9-let it run, get out check underneath for leaks
10-take her for a spin, i go around the block about 1.5 miles
11-turn truck off
12 wait like 3 hrs or so and check oil while its off.

i bet you will be putting more than 5 1/4 this time. i honestly never remember how many i put in but i know its about 6 quarts, i think its about 5 3/4 but i am not positive, but i gotta change my oil next week so i'll pay more attention how much it is

I use Mobil 1 EP and a Mobil 1 filter. I run it anywhere from 8 to 10k between changes.
hey got a question for you, this is my first full synthetic oil change on my 08 f150. will be doing it tomorrow. i have used the extended performance oil before but i had a fram filter on my 04 heritage i had. so i changed it after like 5k miles because i didnt know how long the filter could hold out. this time i got extended performance oil and filter. question is...do you know how long the filter is good for? the oil says 15k but i dont see anything on the filter box about how many miles. i have used mobile 1 since i had my trans am 5 yrs ago and was impressed by what it did. but my 08 was still new so i did motorcraft blended oil and filter for break-in. ive heard your supposed to go conventional to seat the rings but motorcraft doens make conventional, just the blended so i figured it had conventional in it so it would be good. it is at 9k miles now so im going synthetic. also for the record, my uncle said his garage manager did a test on his own truck with the normal mobile 1 synthetic and found it didnt start breaking down till 13k miles. so the extended should be able to go like 20k but i wouldnt do it lol. most i went on mobile one was 9k with extended performance and fram tough guard filter. then i was told fram was crap so i went motorcraft since its made by ford it should mess with anything. i was gonna get a K&N oil filter this time but autozone was out so i went mobile 1. thanks.

The Mobil 1 filter will last as long as the oil. It's a premium dual stage filter designed for synthetics and extended drain intervals.

cool thanks. i even looked at mobil 1's website and still got nothing about it. just to be safe ill probably go like 8k or maybe 10k. also mobil 1's site has the myth about having to use conventional to break in the engine. they say the new engines can be switched to synthetic before you even drive it and it will do no harm with the exception of mazda's rotary engines. and they have a list of all the vehicles that have mobil 1 from the factory. basically all chrysler SRT-8 models, cobaltSS, trailblazerSS, vette C6 and Z06, all bentleys, all cadilacs, and some more i cant remember. but i heard the myth so i put motorcraft bleneded oil in till now, wish i woulda done mobil from the start now. anyway thanks for the info

did my oil change today and it took 6 Qts. actually i think it might have room for another 1/2qt till the full line on the dipstick but if i do add any, it will just be a few splashes of oil. cant wait to see what my gas mileage will be now and if i can get better 0-60 times since there is less friction than the motorcraft blend oil. last tank i got 19.3mpg and that was also racing my friend 3 times so i probably coulda gotten about 20 but that gas pedal is too hard to resist lol

You will not notice more than MAYBE 1% of difference in your gas mileage or your 0-60. Today's dino and blends are very close to synthetics.
