V6 engine swap
V6 engine swap
I have a 97 F150 with 175,000 miles on it and have recently sourced a motor out of a 2001 with only 80,000 miles on it. My question is will i have any problems with this swap, my truck it an auto 4x2 and the donor truck is a manual 4x4. I know I need the PCM out of the new truck but are there any other issues I should be aware of before attempting this swap? Thanks in advance for all the help!

Why grab that 2001 PCM?
It does you no good in the auto trans truck.
As long as the sensors are compatible, you're golden with the 97 computer.
Yeah, just hook all the sensors up, and it should crank right over using the '97 ECU.
Which your '97 ECU is non-pats, so you are golden for your info.

How about using the original wiring harness from the '97?
Unless they changed the connectors on certain sensors... which I suppose could be possible.
But if that were the case, just improvise and buy new '97 style sensors or if the sensor is good on the '97's old engine, just use that sensor with the old plug on it.
I wouldn't think the 4.2l v6 would be rocket science -- maybe a '05+ NBS... but not the OBS.
I could be fatally wrong though.

But I'm just using some common sense logic here man.
