All-motor V6
Motor swaps and big power upgrades are never cheap, especially when you factor in the loss in re-sale value of the truck.
Who is going to pay top dollar for a budget swap done by a first timer under his shade tree? Who is going to pay top dollar for a highly tuned V6 that runs little if any better than a good 5.4?
If you want 5.4 power but have a 4.2 and some money for mods, IMO your best bet is to sell your 4.2 and use the proceeds + your mod money and buy the best 5.4 you can afford.
Unless you are rolling in money or plan to keep the truck forever, you should really consider the re-sale part of it. In the future, it will be alot easier for you to sell the 5.4 you bought than it would be sell your hot-rodded 4.2.

if your just needing a rebuild it wouldn't be worth it, but if your talking about a fully built motor it aint cheap.
I think I may have misled my intentions. Im not planning on actually building something like that. It was purely a hypothetical question. Just wanted to see general opinion and to know what the highest anyone has done.
