110,000 and afew questions

ok my pickup just turned over to 110,000 the only thing it has had done to it in its life is brakes at about 98,000 and new u joints at 105,000 and the only thing that has ever been done to the motor is oil has been changed faithfully every 3,000 and new air filters about every 30,000 and a new fuel filter not to long ago. anyway nothing else and i mean nothing else has been done to the engine... im thinkin it is time for some new spark pluggs do you agree?? what else should i do to it to make it perform its best stock...

P.S. i know everything about this pickup casue my brother bought it new in 1997 and owned it till 2002 and i have owned it since then. this pickup has been drove hard all the time and still wants to keep going and not had anything diffrnt in the motor from the day it came off the floor (sept the air filters and one fuel filter about 11,000 miles ago) what else should i change besides spark pluggs to make it perform at its stock level

note: for what this pickup has been through it has been an amazing pickup it is a 1998 4.2L V6 regular cab long box 5 speed manual.

my bad it does have 2.5 inch true duals on it... so it is not completly stock... but pretty much.
thanks boys l8er

Check the engine build date sticker on the drivers side valve cover. If its after 01-15-1998 then you won't have to worry about the hydrolock gasket issue. If its before that date then I suggest you check out the 97-98 hydrolock thread on www.v6f150.com for detailed info on it.

yeah anything after 01-15-98 should be good. Just saved yourself about $1200 in repairs.

Plugs like everyone said, wires too, coils? I would change out both diffs, the tranny fluid, make sure you get a good grease job to all the zerk fittings. Make sure the serpentine belt is good to go. I would change the coolant. Bleed the brakes, which includes your manual tranny hydrolic reservior.

Oh and check you tire pressure in your spare!

well now it has 112,000 and i have had 2 check engine lights in the last 2 weeks... the first one went away after i washed and waxed it. "guess it just needed some TLC" haha

now about 3 days ago i started it to come to school and its started fine just like every other morning... got to town and noticed it idleing high " i dont have a tach" but i bet it was around 1500 rpm's everything sounded fine... i mean nothing was diffrent was just idleing high. so i shut it off and started it back up... still idled fast... then when i started it to leave school i noticed the check engine light was on again... and it still idleing fast.. im hopeing i just got a bad batch of gas... but what does this sound like to you guys? i need help on this one... please. it still is idleing high... so im just drivin moms powerstroke now... but i want my pickup back... what do you guys think it might be... thanks for any help!!! it is very appreciated

Talking High mile truck

My 1999 V-6 4.2 just turned 305,XXX turing 10 years and it still runs fine. I did a tune up at 100K and another one at 200K. Been thru 4 radiators, 3 alternators, 4 sets of front brakes, several tires, 1 rear ABS sensor, one airbag de-activation switch, 1 serpentine belt, A/C compressor, 2 clutches with a completed overhaul of hydraulic system, 2 sets of u-joints, 4 batteries, and the religiously never ending oil changes...
Most of the replaced parts were done just for preventive manitenance.

I know I had never cleaned up the throttle body and that's why it lacks more power.
I had done all the schedule maintenances since day one, replaced the tranny fluid (standard trans) every 30K, and all the other fluids at least once a year.
Recently I just replaced the battery cables and it runs even better. They were corroted/rotted, making it hard to start.
You can drive it over 300K, I know I did!
