more power

I have a 2003 f150 with the 4.2. i recently added a cold air intake and helix throttle body spacer and was happy with the results and plan on adding a performance muffler. I was jw what esle anyone has added to their 4.2 i could try out to try and squeeze a little more power out of it. Any little tricks would be greatly appreciated even major projrcts such as superchargers. Also where they can be found.
Thanx, Jake G

Trick #1) get rid of the TBS! it is nothing more than a expensive paper weight.

Look into a Magnaflow, IMCO, or flowmaster muffler (SI/DO), underdrive pullies, electric fans, custom tunes, and alot more. Just start simple and go at it.

Welcome!

x3...the TBS just adds a nice whistle to the motor.

Check my sig for the mods I've done to my truck in the last 2 years.

If you want even more info go check out the guys at www.v6f150.com some really awesome trucks there.

You could get electric fans & an underdrive pulley to free parasitic loss.

First of all thanks for all the sugestions everyone! One thing i thought was kinda funny though was with the tbs i noticed a bigger dif. than with just my cai and i even put it on the dyno at my school before and after i installed it and i actually gained 10hp and 15 ft. lbs., i didnt pay that much for it either... i found a guy who makes them himself and i got it less than half the cost of the cheapest one i could find. Where do i find an underdrive pulley kit for my truck? Ive looked everywhere and cant find one. thanx, jake

there is no possible way. TBS's only work on carborated engines, not our FI engines.....sorry man, but I gotta call b.s.

Where do i find an underdrive pulley kit for my truck?
Jake,

Here you go.

5150

01-07
4.2
Harmonic Dampner25% Crank Pulley
850 RPM
ASP820130
$240.95

What do Underdrive Pulleys do? Underdrive pulley systems increase engine horsepower by reducing the amount of power required to drive external engine accessories. For example, the alternator, power steering, water pump and air compressor rob horsepower from the engine. By replacing factory-sized crank and accessory drive pulleys with a resized pulley, the accessories are slowed, resulting in more horsepower available to the drive wheels. Typically, a set of Auto Specialties street pulleys will increase horsepower by 12-15, and increase mileage by 2 to 3 MPG. All pulleys are manufactured from Billet Steel or Aluminum, exceeding factory quality.

I wouldn't bet money on that. I've had my truck on 2 different dynos. 1 when it was stock and the other with my listed mods and the numbers are waaaayyy off. IF the dynos don't lie I make ~10HP/41tq more stock than I do with my mods. Stock was with 87 gas and modded was 94 Troyer tuned.

I was only able to find a crank UDP for mine but I did notice a bit more stiffness in the power steering at very low speeds like when you are parking but its nothing you can't live with.
