That makes your odometer inaccurate too so you can't calculate gas mileage.

What's the axle code on your sticker? I was told that LS is not available with 3.31 ratio; 3.55 is lowest available LS rear end.
I'd like to raise up my front end like that. Was it easy?

GLC - Im just saying from when I put on the tires on thats what im getting on a half a tank of gas.....not trying to calculate what im exactly getting............

5speed08......yea I gotta change it, after I posted it I had put 3.55 at first thinking thats what I had, but i was told it was 3.31...so no LS gear. When I regear im getting LS.....as far as the leveling kit, it was very easy. had some help from my dad and had it done in about an hour and a half.

Still, you can't compare it like that. You are now putting more miles on than the odometer indicates. If the odometer says 175, that could really be as much as 190 or so. You need to go out on the highway and compare the odometer to the mile markers to see how far off it is.

The percent of increase from the stock tires to the new tires in height will show and enable you to accurately calculate speed, mileage, and MPG.

Example. Old tire = 29.5". New tire = 33". The more accurate the better. That's an 11.7% increase in size. The speedo reads 11.7% slower at all speeds. The odo will be 11.7% short in its mileage reading. So just add 11.7% of whatever you have for trip miles to your calculations before you divide by your gallons.

I have larger than stock tires. My calculations are spot on with my readings from my "tire size corrected" ScanGauge II.

FI10Fires: I wanted the lowest available ratio for fuel economy. I drive big trucks and am used to being underpowered. I don't want to burn out 1/4 miles. I want to go far, cheaply. I'm happy with my new truck in that regard.
I want to put bigger tires on too and would really like to know if it will be counter-productive when it comes to fuel economy. The bigger diameter should mean fewer wheel revolutions = less fuel burned.
Up to a point. I want to know where that point is. So far, my truck's got all the ponies that I need.
GLC and MudTerrain got it right. Do some proper calculations and get some meaningful numbers so we can all compare apples to apples. I got a scanguage and would highly recommend it.

Lower rpm's does NOT equal less fuel burned.....espically on the 4.2!! Well, you're right when you say it helps to a point. But the truck is already past that point from the factory. They should be equipped with 4.10's minimum. I have a 99 4x4 5-speed with 3.31's Fuel milage was identical for both 4th and 5th gear on the highway. And that was with stock tires. With the 35's......5th gear was not an option. Do you realize that Nissan and Toyota gear their V-6 trucks in the 4.50-4.60 range??

The real reason for the 3.31 gear set in the V-6 trucks isn't economy........it's so they can sell 4.6's

I doubt that. Don't you think Ford would gear for maximum EPA gas mileage numbers? With the CAFE requirements, they have to, every little bit counts to avoid gas guzzler fines.

Definately. I mainly bought it for the tranny temp and water temp gauges alone, but all the other different cool gauges you can use, plus being able to accurately and instantly calculate and track mileage... Not to mention being a CEL reader which is what... $90? Well worth the money.

Fianlly got a Tuner from a friend for free (Superchips Flashpaq) Got my tire size and everything corrected! Just updated and installed a tune that should help with my gas mileage, the performance tune definitely gives me some giddy up. But the tune I have now seems to be doing fine. will update when I finish seeing how it does!

Looks good!
Are you planning on doing a slight lift in the back?
I've been going back and forth between adding the 4WD shocks
or the AS. Seems if I went with the AS I would like to add a short
block in the back.
