Where in hell is my oil going?

1997 F150 4.2 V6- with 106K miles.

Pulled in to get gas last night. Quickly turned hard into station and noticed my oil light came on and went off pretty quick. Never happend before. Thought I better check the level. OMG!!!! After 4 quarts of Castrol 5W-30, it started to show up on the oil stick. I almost had a heart attack. NEVER has it beed even the slightest bit low. NO oil leaks at least non that drip and show up under truck. All else looks fine. AT fluid, coolant. No smoke from exhaust either. WTF!

It could be burning some but, I bet you have a leaky valve cover or head on the passengers side in the back.OH, forgot check the oil lines to the filter has they tend to leak.

I know. I 'bout had a COW! Gonna have to check into that. Sounds like it could be serious or I really over looked something. I'll try to report back my findings. may save someone else a worse outcome than mine.

Well the back valve cover and head usally won't show much on the ground, just all over the underneath of the truck, or on the exhaust.Alot of people say no leaks, but never get under the truck to look they just look on the ground after they park it.

I agree. Oil dripping from the pan would drop directly on the ground. Oil dripping from on top of the motor would find many nooks and crannies to hide in before ever seeing pavement.

I'd replace the PCV valve if it's never been changed.
