Spark plug wire question

97 V6 55k miles
What is the big metal casting that sits at the top of the engine? Is it called intake manifold? Anyhow, my spark plug wires are touching this metal. Does it get hot and should I separate the wires from it? Thanks.

your intake manifold should ever get hot, at least not that i know of (someone correct me if im wrong). i just changed my plugs last weekend and the wires were touching the manifold, and i saw nothing on them. those wires are made to withstand some heat, so it should be no biggie.

by the way. where did you find a '97 with 55K mi on it?!

Exclamation

Its called a Klingon battle ship!
The wires came from the factory with plastic wire looms around them to protect them from any heat or parts interferance!
