4.2L Engine replacement

Just bought a 98 F150 with a blown 4.2L engine, as it turns out due to the infamous lower intake gasket leak. Had I known at the time about the problems Ford has had with these engines I probably wouldn't have bought it - but I figured I could put a new engine in and be ok.

Has the gasket problem been resolved? In other words, since I'm putting a remanufactured engine in it, are there still failures with the intake gaskets?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, the intake gasket has been updated. Fel pro tends to leak again, so use the ford gaskets.

You want to talk about infamous intake gasket problems, buy a G.M. (3.1, 3.4, 4.3, 5.0 & 5.7) they are waaaaay worse, and at waaaaay lower mileage than the Ford 4.2. But G.M is trying to rectify the issue (it's only been about 15 years though and still only just now fixed).

i also had to swap out my engine from my 99pickup 4.2
well, i finished everything, and the engine is remanufactured.
dropped it in, started the truck, and sooo much smoke came out of the exhaust pipe!!
i took it to a shop, and i made a little mistake, swapped two hoses
luckily it was nothing major.
but the swap shouldnt be too hard.
