ok... at first i used 5w 30 MC oil with MC oil filter(used that for like a year)... then went to 10w 40 pennzoil with MC filter(used that for two oil changes)... now i just changed the oil last week and i put in 10w 30 MC oil with FRAM oil filter. i will be changing to 5w 20 next time though becasue of what i have heard on this site... i know it prly aint good to change oil so much so i am going to use 5w 20 from now on with either a k&n oil filter or just the normal MC oil filter the lifter noise has been there after i quit using the 5w 30 oil... (((((and i just now noticed that it started after i quite using the 5w 30 oil)))))

The 10W is too thick to get where it needs to on a cold start, 10W40 is the wrong oil for these engines. Go back to a 5W20 or 5W30 and make sure whatever filter you use has a good anti-drainback valve. A MC filter does and I assume a K&N does too. I use a Mobil 1 filter and I don't have any cold start noise issues.
