3.9L Magnum/4.2 Essex/4.3L Vortec?
my friend has a single cab silverado with a 4.8, his best time is a 15.6. His is lighter than most so the extra cabs probably run a 15.8 or so.
It's decently quick but's that's all the 4.6L f150 would have to beat

Chevy replaced the 4.3 with a 4.2L I6, it makes 295HP and is used in the trailblazers and might make their way into the silverados to replace the 4.3s. But I have to agree with TECH that GM was very stupid with with their plastic injector assemblys, a very bad design, and not upgradable. More on that in a second.
i got to go with the 3.9 magnum. ive had 2 dakotas with over 150k. not the most powerful engine ever but... very reliable. never gave me a single problem.

That's because it sits in a garage 98% of it's life and I had the underbody painted with regular car paint. The paint is made by DuPont and the name of the paint is Midnight Black Metallic C/C. Nothing like looking at the underbody when it's just as nice as the sheet metal.
The dude who did it, only charged me $450... and he sanded the entire frame down, and all of the parts, etc... and then painted it. I think it took him a total of about 14 hours... but being he's a friend, he cut the labor out a lot. He's also the one who's gonna help me start learning to paint. Who knows, I might do side work for him one day if I get good.

well i have a 2002 ford f150 with the essex 4.2. i have 148,000 i always was told from mechanics its just broken in. its greats its a 5 speed, it takes a beating. well anyways my friend has the 4.3 vortec in a blazed with about the same millage. today on the way to school i had to pick him up, it died again. its dies once a week. idk about a race tho, i think he could take me off the line but i think the f150 would house him.
my truck is just a bottom line stock f150, but it has *****

to be honest, that blazer would probably walk you. the reason being weight. we have 175 rwhp on 4,500 lbs of steel. hes walking on 160 rwhp with about 3,800-3,900 lbs. with some mods you can tie or even beat him! but dont street race, ive personally seen a lot of bad accidents from it.
keep it on the track, kids!
id have to say 4.2 or the dodge 3.7.
bringing this up, have and of yall noticed the 3.1 or 3.8 v6 in the impalas or the buick cars how horribly they start? gosh i hate GMs!
and yes the 4.0 SOHC ranger will scoot i had a 98 that would roll out
