my friend has a single cab silverado with a 4.8, his best time is a 15.6. His is lighter than most so the extra cabs probably run a 15.8 or so.

It's decently quick but's that's all the 4.6L f150 would have to beat

But I have to agree with TECH that GM was very stupid with with their plastic injector assemblys, a very bad design, and not upgradable. More on that in a second.
I said, "it's not a bad engine but they don't build a better one", refering to whatever it's in and that's only what i've seen so, my opinion, not incorrect. I don't disagree with you on the I6 though (except if you want to see COP failures like Ford).

The engine itself is reliable but the rest of the vehicle is an abortion IMO.

My 2000 Dakota never had rust.

That's because it sits in a garage 98% of it's life and I had the underbody painted with regular car paint. The paint is made by DuPont and the name of the paint is Midnight Black Metallic C/C. Nothing like looking at the underbody when it's just as nice as the sheet metal.

The dude who did it, only charged me $450... and he sanded the entire frame down, and all of the parts, etc... and then painted it. I think it took him a total of about 14 hours... but being he's a friend, he cut the labor out a lot. He's also the one who's gonna help me start learning to paint. Who knows, I might do side work for him one day if I get good.

That's nice, I wish I had done that earlier on mine.

4.2 and 4.3

well i have a 2002 ford f150 with the essex 4.2. i have 148,000 i always was told from mechanics its just broken in. its greats its a 5 speed, it takes a beating. well anyways my friend has the 4.3 vortec in a blazed with about the same millage. today on the way to school i had to pick him up, it died again. its dies once a week. idk about a race tho, i think he could take me off the line but i think the f150 would house him.

my truck is just a bottom line stock f150, but it has *****

haha welcome newbie! man i remember when i made this thread. oh, the memories

to be honest, that blazer would probably walk you. the reason being weight. we have 175 rwhp on 4,500 lbs of steel. hes walking on 160 rwhp with about 3,800-3,900 lbs. with some mods you can tie or even beat him! but dont street race, ive personally seen a lot of bad accidents from it.

keep it on the track, kids!

Race a Chevy 1500 4.3 is slower than a F-150 4.2, enough said. Although 4.3's can sound good.

are we talking about speed or power?

cuz the 3.7 hauls pretty good for a 6cyl , so does the 4.2
