I couldn't see getting rid of the truck when someone else would do exactly what I did to it and have a truck for the low price.

Exactly with my Dakota... I can't see getting rid of it. I've got many reasons why I can't get rid of it.

I never plan on getting rid on my truck. Heck, I might give it to my son for his first vehicle as it has for me! I've already had that hydrolock issue and at 24k miles, the only prob I'm having is this clutch problem which I hope we can fix no big deal

$4700 seems fare to me. Here in So. Cal you can't even look at a 97, 98 for that kinda of money. Run it till the wheels come off. I have not had a truck payment in 2.5 yrs and love it. If the day ever comes that I mite need a new motor I mite just do it. Grey, Good luck with the truck and sorry about your dad. Ben

I think that I paid a fair price. Having driven the truck now a week, I love the power. I expect to put many miles on this truck barring any accidents. I would quickly recommend a motor from Ford instead of ditching a great truck.

All I needed was a new clutch in my '99 and I would've still had it... but being a dumb 16 year old, I didn't know anything about trucks. Now I can fix almost anything. Go figure right?!

I dunno... I don't even wanna talk truck payments... gosh, if I still had my '99... all the money I would've saved... sheesh. :o

All things considered, I do not mind having one car payment. I love my wife's Toyota Sienna. But I can't imagine having two payments at once. It may one day come to that, but while the truck is still rolling, I will strive to keep only one going at a time. Who knows? May be my truck could still turn heads like the old 40's still do one day?

Let's hope so. We'll be in our 80's and these kids with like laser-vision will be owning our trucks! We're the original "Ford-ians!"

I'm glad the only two payments I have to pay is gas and insurance. Even then, I don't owe a penny to insurance until Feb.!

Anyone interested in buying the underdrive pulley I purchased from Troyer for my old motor? The newer motor Ford put into my truck has to have the harmonic balancer and pulley made into one piece. Troyer has one I am looking into purchasing. I paid $109 for it and will sell it $60. Includes shipping within the U.S. I will throw in the belt with it. My motor had eight pulleys. So the belt may not fit your truck. Let me know. I really noticed the difference the pulley made as soon as I put it on. Let me know.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I purchased the pulley and the belt at the same time about three months ago. Not many miles on them at all.

Hopefully, I will see many many miles on the road with this truck. On top of that, I put a lot of money in the form of new shocks, hoses, belts, brakes, and tires when I got it. I could not just let it go.
i admire your reason for keeping the truck. good man

The new motor used my intake. The motor was a sealed motor but you do have to reuse your accessories and intake. Sorry. However, if you want the underdrive pulley, I'll sell it to you.
