Anyone upgrade Ignition on 4.2?

Sounds good. When I got my engine replaced, Ford gave us standard Motorcraft spark plugs, but my dad and I took those out, put in some Bosch Platinums, and a Ford Racing coil pack. 24K miles later, still running strong
Wait... why is running an upgraded ignition pointless even if your engine is stock.
For example... msd ignitions, they burn each cylinders gas for a full 20 degree rotation. You not only get better response out of a stock engine, you get 1-2 mpg better.
Stock or built never has anything to do with ignitions. Its just how much power you have and how long it stays on for the plugs. I reccommend everyone looks into an msd or accel as ive has great results in a 2500 chevy 454, a stock s10 blazer, and now my v6 f150.
ps ive always had better luck with ngk plugs. Platinum tends to not run as well. Ngk normally are the most stable and long lasting plugs. Well just what my family has been using since the old rod days,
You probably did just fine getting that accel coil. It should treat you better and last years longer than any oem unit. Plus arent the oem units close to that price? I dont replace broken oem stuff with more oem stuff. I get all aftermarket.
Msd super conductor wires from my 2500 are going in my ford today.
Just my 2 cents.

x2... Bosch suck big time in these motors. I put in a set once...and the truck ran so rough I thought it was gonna throw a rod. Out they came and I put in Autolite Dbl Plats. smooth as silk ever since.
I work at Chevy and Dodge dealership and when we get a p.o.s. trade-in thats what we put in them. I always make sure that a person I like doesnt make the mistake of putting bosch or autolite spark plugs in their vehicles.
