Anyone change or fix IMRC on a 98 Windstar?

Got a problem. The aunt's 98 Windstar gave me 2 codes, P1537 AND 1538 I'm pretty sure those were the numbers. IMRC on bank 1 and bank 2. My question is: what am I looking at to fix this, a big deal or is it relatively easy? I was quoted around 800 bucks in parts, thats 2 IMRC's from the dealer. He said to make sure it's the clips first, which were 6 bux a piece I think. The CEL was on for a while, I grabbed the code with a scanner, then the CEL went off. Now, it's on again, I'm willing to bet the same thing as before. Anyone ever do this before, does it seem like the IMRC's are acting up? Thanks for any input.

It doesn't seem to be, I haven't noticed anyways. Last time I ran it, everything seemed fine, but that's when the light went out. I hope it's the cheap fix, not the other one Single mom, divorcing, extra ciricular activities yadda yadda, I'd like some good news to tell her, hopefully I can. It's a shame because the van is in great shape, good maintenance etc.

By actuators you mean what, the IMRC units? I've forgotten alot of the different terms and part names for these engines. They wanted something like 400 plus bucks per IMRC, or per bank lets say, so 800 bux and I gotta do the work. He said to check the white plastic ends to see if they haven't broken. I might have a go at it over the holiday. I can't for the life of me understand why it would go out and come back again. I'm assuming it's the same problem mind you, she said the CEL is back, maybe it is something different but I doubt it.

Exclamation

Yes,one actuator had an electrical problem and the other had a bad diaphram.I know the parts manager at my local dealer so I got the actuators for $156.00 each! I also know alot of the Ford techs so they gave me fleet rate on labor ($65.00 X 4.5hours)! After taxes, shop fees, and disposal fees,it was just at $690.00! They also cleaned my EGR ports and IMRCs,which were carboned up pretty good!
