I got the muffler for the sound. My mpg's increased a little, I felt a difference up top, and there was a little increase down low. Certainly didn't feel any loss.
What makes you think you lose low end torque with a flowmaster, but you don't with a strait through muffler?

Although it should make it a complete slug according to everyone on here, my non crossovered, true dual glasspack exhaust system on my 5.4 spins the tires easier than before from a stop and downshifts less on hills. I am failing to see where I didn't gain power personally, according to my butt dyno.
dont get glass packs.
get flowmaster 40's
i have them on my v6 and they sound good.
i got them dumped, which made it a little louder, and i love it.
i may dual it, to get some more sound out of it.

tswalker:
I ran a gibson exhaust on my rangers a 99 and 03. the 99 had a 3.0 and the 03 had the 4.0. those swept side single out exhausts made those v-6's sound like they meant buisness
a nice tone, no drone in the cab.
glass packs! those are for muscle cars and farm equipment IMO
Sure, its gonna be loud if thats what you want. If you want to offend in the worst possible way straight pipes baby! YEAH!
Just my $.02

if you must have a glasspack, get the biggest one for best sound. They make one 40 inches long.
i ran a gibson super truck for 5 years before it rotted to pieces. for a quick fix, i ran a 2' center pipe to a cherry bomb glass pack (2.5" siso and 18" long) and then out a 2' tailpipe dumping in front of rear axle. for a $20 muffler (autozone) sound is OK until 2500 RPM where it goes from deep sound to a raucus rasping. power output is good in mid range and better than if corked by a cheap (i tried this too for $20)turbo muffler. The most power I have felt from this motor came from the Gibson and I will be buying the stainless steel super truck exhaust soon.
i hear that a dual flowmaster from the small catalytic converters back is a good way too but I can't see where to route duals around my fuel tank.

Am I the only one here running Edlebrock?....damn i figured it would have been posted but Edlebrock RPM get my vote....i have them dumped just before the axle and they sound nice.....it is almost impossible to avoid the v6 buss at high rpm though.

Zflow 92441 muffler

It is similar to the Flowmaster 40 Series muffler.
Before anyone points out the obvious. Yes, I know that it's a knock off. But what a great price. It sounds pretty decent & feels good too. If it doesn't hold up for whatever reason, I'll get something else. But for now, it works.
Look into these. I got a set for my truck.

Description
Nothing chokes an engine's performance like a rusty, restrictive set of stock exhaust pipes. Kick your truck's power and tone into overdrive with Heartthrob's Deep Tone Dual Exhaust System. Besides unleashing a massive spike in horsepower and torque, this cat back exhaust system adds an aggressive growl that roars during acceleration and purrs while you cruise.
Tow harder, pass faster and turn more heads with the power-packed Deep Tone Dual Exhaust System. Custom-built for your rig, this exhaust features hard-wearing 2 ¼" aluminized piping.
The mandrel bends on your Deep Tone Dual Exhaust System ensure a lightning-fast flow of fumes, which are not slowed by a stifling muffler. Instead, your new exhaust uses glasspack tips. Wrought from stainless steel, these tips strip away backpressure and tune your exhaust to a forceful note.
Your Deep Tone Dual Exhaust System comes complete with all hangers, clamps and hardware for a clear-cut installation. 1-year warranty.
Notes
* A bit of cutting is usually needed to remove your old exhaust system after the catalytic converter.
* On a select number of vehicles, some minor drilling is required to mount an additional hanger.
At Heartthrob Exhaust, we are committed to building only the finest exhaust parts. We are a full line exhaust warehouse, as well as a manufacturer, so we are able to meet just about everyones exhaust needs. We carry an extensive inventory, including gaskets, hangers, clamps, tubing, flex tubes, exhaust kits, catalytic converters and air tubes, stainless steel and chrome tips, performance and stock mufflers, mandrel bends, glasspacks and much more.
We are located in central Minnesota, about an hour west of the Minneapolis area. We are a small company with over a 30 year history that prides itself in taking care of our customers. Most of our 25 employees have an extensive exhaust knowledge, and we are happy to answer any questions or give advice and ideas on you exhaust projects. Our 80,000 square foot facility includes a wide variety of inventory, production equipment, and even custom installation facilities.
We specialize in mandrel tube bending. This is a must for any performance exhaust system. On a normal muffler shop tube bender, the size of the tube is crushed and restricted. On a tube that is mandrel bent, the tubing diameter is maintained, with no restrictions. Combined with performance mufflers, these two make up the backbone of any performance exhaust system. Our products are used on everything from late model cars to large 5 inch diesel exhaust, as well as general tube bending for industrial purposes.
We currently have 5 CNC controlled mandrel tube benders with bending capabilities of 1.25 to 5 inch, with smaller sizes and additional bend radii coming soon. Our facility also contains cutters, end forming machines, welders, mills, lathes, punch presses, laser tube coordinate measuring arm, a portable coordinate measuring machine (CMM), and much more.
You can find our Heartthrob brand products in many performance auto parts catalogs and websites. We do also supply a lot of exhaust parts for performance auto parts catalogs and websites.

I have a glasspack on my v6, i wanted a change in sound and it was free so i put it on. I personally like the pops when downshifting, and its fun high reving it threw neighborhoods and setting off alarms.
