Where to find mfg date
Where to find mfg date
Is the date on the inside of the door panel where you find the mfg date?
The truck I am interested in has a sticker on the inside of the door frame with all the info and is dated 2/98.
Is this good,or do I need to look somewhere else?
This truck has 94,000 on it and looks clean so if there was a intake gasket problem it probably would have been a problem by now.
Having a mechanic check it out today but I doubt he knows about the dating problem with this truck.
Thanks
Chantal

My 99 has a sticker with a date on one of the valve covers ... I'm assuming this is the engine manufacture date. I believe the good gaskets were in motors built after about 1-15-98 (someone please correct me if I'm wrong about the date).
Thats the right date Fairlaner. The ones made after that have the upgraded gaskets. There should be a sitcker on the drivers side valve cover that has the build date on it. If its like mine there was no date just a code. If you can't read the code and if you can find out where the truck was first sold you can ask that dealer if they can tell you the code. You can also call Ford directly and they can tell you the exact day the truck was built. This will give you some idea as to when the engine was made, they are made usually 3-6 months before they are put in the truck. At least thats how it is here in Canada.
