A few questions about the V6 F150 i just bought

Hi all, im new here so i apologize if some of my questions are a little tired.

I just bought an 07 F150 with the 6 in it, and im wondering if anyone makes headers for it. Also, from exp what exhaust do you guys reccommend for a decent note with the 6 cylinder engine? Preciate the help.

The 4.6 is a V8. This is the V6 forum.

Thumbs up

When I had my 97 with the 4.2V6 I was running a Dynomax turbo muffler. It had a slight deep throaty sound at idle and a V8 rumble at higher rpms.

Headers

I am sure someone makes headers for the 4.2 but I personally wouldn't go through the expense or trouble for minimum gains.

Both make headers, but your Egr tube will need to be bent to to fit. Pretty sure thats the only reason why they are not listed for the NBS is due to the egr tube.

For a muffler on the V6 I like the Flowmasters. The chambered design gives it a deeper tone. I have a flowmaster and love it. I have a 50 series right now, but would like to upgrade to the 44 series. The 50 is a little too quiet for my taste. Packed mufflers like magnaflow's will give it a ricer sound, especially on the Ford 4.2.

Flowmasters kill the low end torque though.

i have a 40 series flowmaster on mine with 2.5 inch pipe out the back behind passenger rear tire with 5 inch chrome tip. the tip has rolled edges and it sounds really good.

Headers are one of the most expensive mods per increase in performance. In fact they are almost the least effective mod. You save about as much by putting a fresh coat of wax on every month. No joke. (and wax costs less to boot)

Flowmasters sound somewhat bearable for the forst hour or so... My brother had the same setup as you, White05stx (except he had a Dodge V8). LOTS of cab drone... Maggies dont do that so bad. and they sound better.

Do some research, you'll learn something. Thats a very typical myth of the uniformed that don't understand the flowmaster design. The internal design of the baffles create venturies, and that forces exhaust gas out. If you have proof otherwise, then proove away.

If your worried about low-end torque then you shouldn't have a Ford 4.2.
