Want More Power!

I have a 1997 4.2L V6 in my '97 150, what I am wantin' to do is put a 5.4L V8 in it, supercharge it, and fit some lightning exhaust on it. I know it's alot of work, but I believe I can do it. Any suggestions

Sell it and buy a 5.4 truck if you want a 5.4... Way easier and probably cheaper...

I'll agree with this one,by the time you change wiring harness, cpu, engine, you have a 4x4 probably some of the drive train. Not to sure but sounds like alot of work!!!

Unless if your engine and transmission are completely smoked, it'd be much easier and cheaper to sell it and buy a 5.4.

MAn don't do that! All you need to do is just turbo it. for only 2k (which i believe is ALOT cheaper than swapping and getting everything right) you can make about 290+ to the rear and still retain all stock internals if you run less than 9 lbs of boost. the only thing you would need to do is upgrade your stock clutch (if 5 speed) and do some tweaking on your FMU. All in all i think that would be a better plan. Thats wut im going to do to mine her very soon.

For $2k you can pull the 4.2 and put in a mild 302!

Yes but then you would have to worry about emissions and all that other stuff. JUst turbo the 4.2 and beat the v8's You see it all the time...... It's hard for me to say this but v8's aren't the king on the street anymore. You see alot of turbo'd 4-6 bangers.....

The V6 has been dominant for awhile;back in 1986-1987 Buick had a turbo charged 231 cubic inch V6 in the Grand National that ran low 12s straight from the factory! So,yes, the V6 always has potential....but remember, there is no replacement for cubic inches!
