Help...Engine Miss..?

I have an 06 4.2, with 5000 miles on it. I installed an intake chip, one of those tornado intake devices, and some APC air filter when i first got the truck. at around 4500 miles, i was driving the truck and the engine gave out, almost like it went out of gear, and then resumed running. the wrench light came on. When i restarted the car, the wrench light was gone. This happened 2 more times at around 5000 miles, and the last time it happened, the engine service light came on as well, and stayed on. can anyone help me? i think it has something to do with the air fuel mixture... but im not certain.

Thanks alot in advance!!!!

Take all the stuff off you added and see how it runs.

MAF might have gotten dirty by an oiled air filter. This would cause the check engine light and a rich burning fuel mixture. I would return it to stock and see how it does. Or better yet, remove one part at a time and test it out for a while, see if the defective/poor mod is the issue.

Remove the crap (Tornado and the IAT "chip") since they are frauds anyway and throw them in the trash.

Put a stock OEM air filter in it before it ever goes near a Ford dealer. Never let them see an aftermarket "performance" product while under warranty unless it came from Ford. If there is any doubt as to whether an "aftermarket" device is causing a problem, they will assume that it is and it will be up to you to prove that it is not responsible.

Since you already fell for the junk, it is doubtful you would be able to provide such proof if needed.

Seriously, take it to stock, see if it fails. If it does, take it to the dealer for warranty service. They get paid for fixing this stuff.
