DPFE valvue bad. does that equal bad gas milage?

DPFE valvue bad. does that equal bad gas milage?
I am getting about 12 MPG in 2002 4.2 F150. When I pull the boat, I might get 8.

If you KNOW the DPFE is defective, then replace it.

An EGR system that is not functioning properly can cause drivability issues, including poor fuel mileage (depending on failure mode).

Just curious. Would a faulty DPFE valve show up as a "check engine soon" code?

A faulty DPFE sensor or EGR valve will usually set an OBD-II code.

Yes it will make your SES light come on. I just had my dpfe sensor replaced at 54000 miles on my 01 f150. Problem solved.
