pcv vac. leak?
Cannot find the PVC
Newbie here,
Hi everyone, great site, I have a 2002, V6, 4.2L 5 speed, I am getting some hesitation, specially when taking off. I change plugs, wires, had a K&N air filter, changed for a regular one, clean the MAF. My brother-in-law tells me to check the PVC, but I can't find it. I check the two plugs on top of the valves cover, but the the is no valve attached to those plastic elbows or that rubber gasket. Please help

I figured it out, but didnt post back. sorry,
These trucks that appear to not have a PCV valve, do. It is ford part EV256, and bolts into the side of the intake, just behind the throttle body. it is connected to the left valve cover via an insulated plastic pipe, two rubber connectors and an elbow.
The o-ring that seals the PCV Valve to the intake is one of the sneakiest vacuum leaks, that cause the p0172 and p0174. Many parts houses and dealers will tell you the truck does not have a pcv valve. Do not make the mistake of using the pass through version from 4.2s that have the PCV in the valve cover. If you do, you will have no valve and as the truck runs it will suck oil out of the valve cover and fill the intake, then when you shut it off, there will be enough oil in the intake to oil lock the cylinders.
dont ask.
anyway, the valve is about 30 bucks, and the tube is like 36.
