Loss of Acceleration/power

Ok, my truck has seriously lost what it had for power. I can hardly even squeal the tires anymore....and it's a man. transmission. I can feel that the truck wants to get going...but just won't deliever the power to the back end. Any idea's what could be wrong ? Plugs and wires were replaced two months ago. There was mention that the throttle body needs to be replaced but I wasn't sure if that was just the dealership trying to get some money out of me. do you guys have any Ideas as to what the problem is or what I can do to help.

How is the fuel filter?

Other possibilities are the EGR and PCV valves.

Maybe gas quality has declined in your area.

How many miles of spinning tires? You could have a bad clutch assy due to a small amount of "abuse". Does it feel like it is slipping when trying to take off from a stop? When you downshift on the fly, does it feel like it slips? I bet you just need a clutch.

entire cluth assembly was replace about 2 months ago. The clutch isn't slipping. I have not changed the pcv valve since owning the truck...how often should it be changed? I hardly ever abuse the truck.....I can feel the lacking in just normal acceleration and its driving me nuts.....

Fuel pump? It's a weakness in the F150. Mine was failing; loss of power; sometimes failed to start.

How do you know if its the fuel pump? I've checked and replaced many things to correct the engine stumble and still haven't fixed the problem.

I think you may have excessive carbon build-up in your engine. This might be the problem and it might not be. But it's worth a try. Go by some seafoam. You can get it at any marina/boating supply store, and pour it in your gas tank and pour some in the hose that goes to your brake booster. You have to do the brake booster thing while it is running, and only pour a little at a time. It will smoke like crazy for a while until it burns all the carbon out of your engine. Don't worry about the smoke. It's just part of the process. And see if that helps. If not, other possibilities could be a clogged catylitic converter, fuel pump, egr system, pcv, or the throttle body linkage could be obstructed by an object. Have you been 4-wheeling lately? You could have pinched an exhaust pipe on a rock causing a loss of power. But mainly make sure you use the seafoam, and make sure your getting spark in all cylinders. Oh, another thought...check your timing chain for wear. If it's a tooth off, it could cause a severe drop in power. Also check your battery's voltage level. It's supposed to be 13.8 - 14.5 volts. You can check it with any cheap volt meter. Another thing, I heard someone from another message board say that if your battery is low on voltage it could cause your sparkplugs to not get enough spark since that's what the plugs draw their power from. That's all I can think of. Good luck.
