coolant from green to orange
coolant from green to orange
Last month when I changed my oil I checked the coolant reservoir and it was green as usual. Today, I checked my oil and instead of green it was mostly orange in color. Last time I had the coolant flushed, they used "Recycled" anti freeze (I didnt know this until later) and that was about 20,000 miles ago.
Is the orange caused by rust? The coolant level isn't down a drop.
The truck is a 2000 year model.
Thanks!

Have it flushed out with new coolant! That recycled stuff ain't worth crap. The city uses it in all their fleet cars(ie cop cars and such) I wouldn't put it in a water cooled weedeater if there was such a thing. You can't recycle what is already used up when it is changed. Would you run recycled engine oil?

Yeah as soon as I saw that it had turned orange, I said oh sh*t and took it in immediately for a coolant flush and made sure I was getting *new* coolant.
I also looked in the owners' manual and it says that Recycled coolant was okay to use, but I would have never let them use the stuff if I knew about it. I didnt know they used recycled coolant until some time after they did the job. They really should have mentioned that to me up front before they flushed it.
