MAC is the best IMHO. Good looks, good sound, nice power increase.

I have the MAC also and feel it is the best for the money. I remember someone dynoing one a while back and they said it gained 7 rwhp on the V6 if that answers your question. I had right many mods when I installed mine plus replacing a poormans intake with an S&B airfilter so I can't make the claim of feeling alot of gain myself but it would be hard for 7 hp to knock your socks off.

I put the Airaid on and am it made a noticeable seat of the pants difference above 2,500 - 3000 rpm, as well as much more intake noise.

FWIW, all the power gains with an FIPK will be toward the top of the rpm range. Very little if any power increase below 3,000 rpm, so if you drive around with a light foot you will barely know its there.

I had a drop-in K&N filter before I put on the Airaid.

Compared to the stock air filter, the K&N filter alone made absolutely no difference in mileage or performance on my truck.

On the other hand, the Airaid clearly added a noticeable power increase at 3,000+ rpm, as well as much more intake noise anytime you put the pedal to the floor.

Thumbs up AIRAID Intake

I tell ya, I have an AIRAID on my 98 V-6, and I could tell a difference also. And like you said also above the 3K range. Mine sounds like an old 4 barrel when you opened up all 4 at the same time. Great gas mileage as well. But with my driving style(Bristol night race) gas mileage goes out the tailpipes.

i think you can get it on ebay for around 160-180 including shipping...depends sorta on luck with ebay whether you get in higher or lower...but i would imagine that range is good.

i also have an airraid...it sounds awesome....dunno anything about power gain though...it sounds more powerful at least....like an angry coked up vacuum cleaner keehee.

Well I have only had my MAC intake several months and probably have only crossed 3k rpms 3 or 4 times since so I guess I would be missing alot of the gains. I still like mine and it does impart a deep roar when passing. Even compared to ebay prices the MAC is still cheaper and I don't really see how one would be much better than another. Hillbillyford you can see my MAC in my gallery.

Does anyone just run a K&N Filter in their truck? What kind of hp increases/effects to you see with it?

thats what i have in mine now. i didnt see anything noticable with it but there might be some there. i got most of my hp gains with my glasspack which sounds like a ricer but it gave me some hp. still aint sure tho if im goin to get the MAC becuz it is cheaper or the AIRRAID for maybe more hp gains.

The only difference I saw with my K&N drop-in filter was better throttle response. I might have got a little better milage, but nothing drastic. If you want a little more power you can feel, get the MAC.
