Question Engine misfire

I have a 2000 f-150 4.2 liter v-6 xl. I was driving shortly after getting gas and my service engine light came on and the truck ran like crap. It started missing and ticking real loud. I, thinking it was water in the gas or a bad fuel filter, have changed the filter, put in some fresh gas and injector cleaner. The truck still misfires and makes a rather loud ticking or pinging noise. I have ran the motor a bit, as suggested by the owner's manual, but the noise and rough running persists. Someone throw me a bone here.

Weird....

If it still has net behaved itself since you posted, have you tryed checking your plugs? Maybe the REALLY bad gas tore up a plug? More than 1 plug? I'd start with the ez stuff like that first since you already changed the fuel filter. Of course there is the VERY distinct possiblility that the gas was REALLY-REALLY bad and it pretty much blocked up the fuel-pump sock (in the tank itself). Of course checking that is NOT ez...LOL

Good luck!
