Newbie needs advice!!
I just got my first F150 and I'm pumped, it was meant to be just a second vehicle but I love it. It's a 99 V6 with 88,000 miles. I want to do a few quick and fairly inexpensive performance upgrades. Id like to put a chip in it, an air raid or air force one intake and a new exhaust, probably the Troyer performance exhaust. I would also like to change shocks, possibly Rancho or Monroe Reflex or even the Edelbrocks IAS if I can bring myself to spend 300 bucks on shocks. My question is "is it ok to do these upgrades on a truck that has this many miles on it already"? I don't want to damage or overstress anything. I'd also like to hear comments, advice and suggestions from everyone about my ideas or any other ideas you have for me.
First off welcome to the family! The only upgrade I would be concerned about is the chip, depending on which one you get. But before you get the chip go ahead and do everything; exhaust, intake, maybe a cam and head swap, gears etc. Then get you a custom chip burnt for the mods you have. It will cost a little for the chip, but it is well worth it especially after all mods are completed. There is another site you can go to v6f150 they have a bunch of guys that is a little more uptempo than the guys on here and would love your coming. SCT which I beleive is a supporting vendor for this site burns chips for pretty cheap. Good luck

Do the Superchip first. It is by far the best bang for the buck as far as engine perfromance, and improves power in the low and mid rpm range, where you drive the most. For my truck, I gained about 10% in mileage, but since premium costs 10% more, it doesn't save you much money on operation. But the truck just runs soooo much better.
IMO, the Airaid only helps above 3,000 rpm. Costs simlar to the chip, does not help performance nearly as much. You should not need to have the chip reburned just because you added an FIPK.
As far as exhaust, I prefer my quiet stainless steel stock exhuast.
The Edelbrock shocks are a huge improvement over stock. If you STILL have the stock shocks at that many miles, you really should replace them with a quality shock! I have about 80,000 miles on my Edelbrocks, and they have lost something and are due for replacement. I think I might go Bilstein or Rancho next time just for a change, but the Edelbrocks work very well.
