Question Studded tires

I am new to the forum and finally getting back to where I can drive my truck. I have an 03 F-150 4X4 with a V-6 and 5 speed (had to start somewhere). I am leaving Korea in a few days and will pick my truck up in Texas then drive to Alaska on the ALCAN. I am trying to decide on studded tires, do I need them and if so any suggestions on where to get a god set at? "Went to the wrong forum and won't let me delete it"

I wouldn't get studded tires for a variety of reasons
1) They aren't legal everywhere
2) They are only helpful on ice

Sorry my post "went" incomplete

3) They are horribly noisy
4) They have terrible traction on dry roads; most of your driving
5) They all dramatically extend braking distance on dry roads

A good set of snows with the right rubber compounds will suit you much better.

I'd go Bridgestone Blizzaks (sp?) and buy them at www.tirerack.com
