Question Body moldings

I have a 1998 supercab XLT. Question to anybody out there who might know. How do I remove the side body moldings that run along the bottom of my doors and part of the truck bed?And also, how to remove the F150 badge on the fenders? I want to smooth out the sides of my truck to put some vinyl graphics on. One more question: will the removel of these parts leave any kind of mark on the paint? Thanks, Mark M

Welcome ! The mouldings are attached with 2) ~1/2" adhesive strips located near the top and bottom. This leaves an area in the middle with no adhesive. Buy some 3-M Wax and Adhesive Remover (my Wally World has it), a BIG roll of dental floss, and new plastic putty knife. Have all of your supplies handy and add a hair dryer (not for you ). Spray the 3-M on the top, the bottom, and the center (as possible) a couple of times. Heat the area up with the hair dryer as you saw with the dental floss and/or pry with the putty knife. After it's started, spray 3-M behind the moulding as you go and heat with the hair dryer. The emblems are similar, only they have a couple of studs that go through body holes. You will only be able to saw with the floss around a perimeter, so more prying with the putty knife. Take your time and don't pull hard on the paint. Both will leave a messy residue that will come off with the 3-M and turning a clean 100% cotton rag.

Thanks for the details Max. I'm sure I'll be able to do the job well now. I didn't have a clue on how to do this properly. Thanks again. Mark M
