Throttle Position Sensor
I think my T.P.S is starting to fail on my 98 4.2l so I was planning to install a new one this week. However, I was wondering if a new sensor will require any voltage adjustment when installed? I took a look this evening but I see only two fixed screw locations so I figure it's a simple process of removing the old unit and screwing the new TPS in place...no adjustment required???
Any thoughts please!

Just make certain the slot aligns with the shaft on the throttle plate. No adjustment is required although one is possible if you know what you're doing and feel compelled to do it.

Thanks Steve,
I will take a shot at changing the TPS soon because my truck has suk'd lately when accelerating. Idle is fine, fuel economy is great, everything is running normal except for 1700+ acceleration..it bogs down and feels sluggish...no OBDII warning light (yet) so I'll take a chance, skid getting a code test and try the TPS...at 177,000 miles it can't hurt.

Beware the TPS screws have glue on them from the factory. They are really really hard to get out. I stripped mine. I tried the Sears tool to removed stripped screws and it stripped the screws more. I ended up using a vise-grips to get them out and suggest the same. Each screw costs over $2.00 from Ford. My dealership had an ample supply on hand. Me thinks stripping these screws is easily done..... even by a trained mechanic. The vise grips method is slow but you won't be buying expensive screws from the parts department.
