Talking egr question

Hey there got a question on the EGR sys.

From all the post I have read, most deal with the V8s,

I should be cleaning the EGR ports often. I have never clean them, I have not had a CEL come on nor is the engine running bad since it is my 2nd V6 for my truck. But for the V6s I know where the EGr valve is, where are the ports? I see the tube running from the EGr to lower side of the intake mainifold. Do i need to remove the TB to see the ports? or what?

thanks from the Snuff.......

The ports are the air passages in the intake that carry the exhaust gasses from the EGR vale into the intake airstream. They will be behind the throttle body and might be visible if you just look through the open throttle plate. Don't know for certain as I haven't looked at them on a 4.2

The ports on many engines tend to clog right where they open into the airstream.

There are a total of 6 ports,on the lower intake. And,to clean them you must remove the intakes.

Talking

To: projectSHO89 and blueoval thanks for the replys

but for clarification, i'm talking about the vent holes for the EGR valve, all the pics I find are on v8s and they show two small vent holes that get a build up of carbon, are these behind TB or do i need to remove the TB to see them?

or should i just remove the EGR valve and TB to find them?

You wont find those 2 holes behind the throttle body.As I said before, there are 6 of them in the lower intake. And guess how you get to them?
