rough running new engine help

hey there

Recently I had a new 4.2 long block crate motor installed.

It has been about 700 miles since I got the truck back and there is a problem that I cant figure out.

When I start the truck it seem to jump to a start, kind of rough.
Then while I am driving it will sputter almost as if its not getting enough gas or something.

If I drive a steady slow speed and then give it some gas quickly it will sputter and then go. This does not happen every time and it has gotten better each day. Yesterday and today I have had to really pay attention to notice it.

The shop told me that there could be some gunk or something in the injectors that is clearing it self out. I told him that it was not doing this with the old motor but they say that when a engine blows all kinds of sensors can get messed up and cause a problem like the one I'm having. They told me a give it a week or so and see if it continues to get better.

Does anyone have any info on things I should look into??

My truck info is as follows

1998 f150 super cab
Auto tranny
New engine 4.2 long block will about 700 miles on it so far.
I drive over 100 miles a day at 70+ mph(highway speed limit here)
Fuel filter is about 7-8 month old
I only have three cats on this truck(one was leaking so I hacked it off)

The old engine blew do to coolant in the engine

Before the engine blew if ran perfect with no problems and 144000 miles on it

Any info would be great

Did they sell you blinker fluid too? Also, did they replace your muffler bearing?

I knew that part thats why i'm asking if anyone has any ideas as to what i should look at so that when i go back i have a bit more ammo.

my plugs are new with the engine but the wires are still the original factory ones. i dont think thats the problem since they where fine on the old engine.

The problem i have is that the old engine ran great untill it blew. so what is it he could have done during install to cause this type of problem??
