My '97 had 172,000 miles on it when it also hydrolocked I used penzoil. It might have made 200k, but I got my 02 and hardly ever drove the '97(maybe 1 every 2 weeks).

ok

That's great news. Do you know something about Slick50
that we all need to know ?

My concern is that you just don't hear all the hype about it we did years ago.

My 1998 only has 60,000 miles. I've used Slick 50 in all of my vehicles for nearly 20 years. I put almost 200,000 miles on my 1984 Firebird using Slick 50 before selling it, and my wifes 1997 Honda Civic has 150,000 on it now with no problems. I hope to get 200,000 out of my F150.

I got 155,000 out of the original. I lost a head gasket and used radiator stop leak for a band aid fix. About 1,000 miles later I had my 2nd bout with the timing chain seal failure. I went with a long block replacement at that time..

How about this? 216,000 on my old '97 V-6 (all original excluding intake and timing cover gaskets) and still going strong.

Oh yeah...forgot to mention, no Slick 50. Was fed a regular diet of Castrol GTX 10W-30 and Motorcraft filters for the first 200K. Then switched to Mobil 1 when I found out it would cut down on that annoying ticking noise you hear at idle in gear. Still consumes no oil. I have seen more than a few of these at work nearing 300K.

So far I have 118K on mi v-6 with no problems. Runs like new. I expect to get at least 150K out of it, probably more if no major parts or gaskets fail. I have used Mobil 1 10w-30 since 15K miles.

Mine only has a few hundred because I just bought it, but my Dad has 245,000 on his 1986 V-6. I hope I have that kind of luck out of mine!

M uncle's 96 F-150 V6 has 285,000 miles, mostly highway, but he does take great care of his vehicles. But now he has a bad knock in his motor, so in comes a "new" one(from another truck). My 2002 F-150 Sport V6 has 60,000 on the clock....alot of driving for a still highschool student.

They charged you $2300 to put gaskets on both sides of motor ?
Expensive labor.
