I killed my V-6!

Wow! 2 weeks ago we had some really, really bad rain and I got washed into a ditch from some high waters on the road. My truck was leaning at a steep angle towards the passenger side and some water even creeped into the cab on the passenger side. Well I decided to leave the truck running for a 4 minutes without thinking. I was worried more about getting out of the ditch. I heard a knocking noise and I was like ****, the exhaust was blowing out smoke. I knew the smoke was from oil building up in the valves on the right side, but the knocking I knew was something worse. I shut it off, 20 minutes later I get pulled out and I let it sit on level ground for 15 minutes and fire it up and it's still knocking. I drove for 20 minutes to burn the excess oil out fo the valves and it quit smoking, I did not notice a power loss. I took it into the shop the next day to get checked out and they recommended an engine change. I was glad that I agreed, the middle piston on the left hand size was missing a chunk of aluminum the size of a quarter. Surprisingly the cylinder was not scorched or gouged. Now I have a factory rebuilt engine from Jasper with a new 3 year 75,000 mile warranty. At least something good came out of that whole deal...haha!

I had a shop install it for 4K. It has a nationwide warranty from Jasper the company that remanfactured it. The engine was a core, but check out www.jasperengines.com to see what they do. The shop had to re-use my valve covers, alternator, intake and several other components. The core for the engine was 2,600 and the rest was labor. One of my friends has a V-6 with 280 thousand miles on it without a rebuild. I don't understand how that thing runs...haha!
