P 1152

Hi guys,

Wow what a resource! Browsing here I learned I could go to Autozone and have check engine light codes read.

I did so and have got back 2 instances of P 1152

My light has been on for months. It first appeared after a tune up. Prior to that I had been having problems with stalling. Every so often after the truck is warmed up it will sputter and stall when I let off the gas. It starts right back up again and runs fine. Funny thing when I notice the sputtering come on I shut it off and back on and all is fine. It comes and goes. Lately it has been getting worse.

Any idea what this could be before I bend over for the dealer?

It gets real bad after my battery has been disconnected and before the computer fully re boots which I learned here also! I was a bit freaked out after changing my alternator and the truck run like crap.

Thanks in advance!

The P1152 indicates that the left bank is running too rich after the computer has tried to correct to the lean side according to the O2 sensor.

Inspect the sensor wiring and connector. If nothing is evident, I'd replace the sensor (do both of the upstream ones at the same time), reset the computer, and see if that helps.

I'd also check for a possible ruptured diaphram in the fuel pressure regulator. Not sure where the vaccum source for the FPR is at on your engine, especially since you didn't identify what you have. If the diaphram should happen to be ruptured, there will be fuel in that vacuum line dumping into the intake. If this condition exists, it would explain your symptoms.

Thanks Steve.

I have a 4.2L V6

I'll have a look at the sensor wiring as you suggested.

Under the throttle body on the upper intake manifold you will see a rubber boot (90 degree boot) with a plastic tube going to your PCV valve on the right rear valve cover. There is most likely a hole in the rubber boot, tube,or the vacuum line at the PCV valve.Ford sells these parts in a kit.I just recently fixed my friends E150 van, with the same code.Good luck and keep us posted.
