Slight Pinging

I have a 2000 F150 V6 with about 70,000 miles. Lately it seems to have a slight ping when I drive on the highway-at about 70 mph. Just as I touch the accelerator. I figure cheap gas, but this has been going on for a few months. Anyone out there experiencing the same thing?

Other than that the truck runs excellently. No problems whatsoever

two most likely thinds are
1. dpfe sensor is starting to fail causeing the egr valve to open to far.
2. egr ports are clogged up

i'd start with the sensor dpfe sensor is cheap also ask to get the redesigned one with the pigtail harness and older less likely to fail type sensor. think you prolly have the little square one right now those go out alot.

but the only way to know for sure is wait for check engine light or have it diagnosed with a scan tool.

Have you replaced the plugs and/or wires on your truck? I did mine at 63,000 when it exhibited the same pinging and stuttering you describe.

No problem since....
