v-6 ignition coil

Well heres the problem intermittent miss under load.
I had the windings on the coil checked and they were bad on the primary side. Bought a new coil from autozone and installed it. The engine would not even crank over. So i switched it back and the engine runs, but with the miss. store coil checked out good but will not work in truck whats up?

Sorry i can't help you, but please see my post on my 98 F-150 4.2, with my coil problem. If I find the answer I will post it. Never came across a problem like I have, but I will keep with my creed on every vehicle I have ever owned, as simple as it seems, that there is always a solution to the problem. My post is under V-6 engine.

I had the same problem, my local Ford store did the work on it and they had tried a different year, my truck is a 97 and they tried a 98 (which looked identical other than different pattern at which it fired) ignition coil and came up with the same problem of the truck not turning over. So, they ordered the same year and voila! it worked fine. So you might want to see you didnt get a wrong part number or the auto zone grabbed the wrong coil by accident.

the ignition coil is on top of the motor with the 6 wires running off of it.

The guy at Autozone more than likely grabbed the wrong one. they probably don't know there is a differnce in firing order.
