Warranty question
Warranty question
Seeing as I am nearing the end of my 3/36 warranty, does anyone have an opinion as to whether I should continue getting my scheduled maintenance done at the dealer? Im wondering whether the dealer will give me extra grief if something breaks and they havent been doing the maintenance. Thoughts?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Decision is entirely up to you!!
BUT one thing to consider is WHO KNOWS YOUR VEHICLE BEST?
They do of course because they are up to date on latest TSB's, Special service messages, etc.
However, it depends on how much trust you put in WHOEVER is under your hood!!! If you got a good relationship with a mechanic or a dealership, stick with it!! Sometimes people go a little step farther knowing they have a loyal customer!!

For maintenance that I can't really do at home I take mine to the dealer I bought my truck at. It has 35,200 now, but I do have the extended warranty for 70,000/7years.
In any case I would always bring it to them for the things I don't normally do, like the tire rotations, etc. I could do that at home but kind of a pain. I do all my own oil changes, manual trans. fluid and rear-end fluid changes myself at 30,000 miles.
I figure by keeing in touch with the dealer for some things I can insure I have a good relationship in case something does need to be repaired that might fall into some gray area in a warranty.
Also what FordMasterTech mentioned about "TSB's, Special service messages, etc." I feel I am least likely to get screwed by the dealer that I will end up buying my next truck/car at then some garage I will never buy anything from except service.
I am on my 5th vechile from this dealer and never had any problems with "questionable" service or cost.
I should mention that "all" the maintenance I do myself, oil changes, trans fluid, rear-end fluid etc I keep a log with the mileage and date I did it with all receipts just in case there is every a question.
So if you decide "not" to take it to your dealer for service I would HIGHLY recommend that you keep a log of miles and dates along with all receipts so you can prove you have maintain your truck.
