Question Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor

Has anyone had to replace a Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor, on a new engine or same engine that had a broken timing chain. I am completing a engine install and the only thing I am worrying about it the proper position of the CMP sensor. I have the engine at TDC, should it just drop down? The manuals only work if you are replacing the timing cover and reinstalling it again, which you have marked.

thanks
