Input please...
I just had a quick question for all of you f-150 owners out there, I am thinking of buying one, but I am debating if 4x4 is absolutley needed? I want it, but I have been told that its not needed unless for offraod work of course, which I don't really do any off-raoding, or maybe plowing or going though a lot of snow. Told it doesn't help really if just on top of snow. I live in ND, and I am going for a reasonably priced f-150. 4x4 save a nice little chunck off not needed. Input please... thanks
Not a F150 but I have a 4x4
I drive a 4x4 S/D
My 1st Truck was a 77 F250 4x2 it did good if you go 4x2 make sure it has L/Slip got mine stuck once but there was times I did'nt go.
I asked my Aunt once about why 4x4 she said it was cheap insurance & the ability to go where you want/have to be. It was there I got my 77 stuck bad even with L/Slip. My S/D truck is my 2nd 4x4 since then.
If you drive in a SNOW area I would get a 4x4 with good tires it will save a lot of grief when I got stuck by my Aunt & Uncle's it was in snow was on top found a soft spot my uncle helped get it out he was further up the road in a toyota 4x4 I was trying to follow him (not a good idea) he told me get a 4X4
It will be your choice of course just giving you some Imput

Hi DC man
Your getting good input here....
Also....4X4 can help alot if you have a boat...some ramps are real slippery & sometimes your in mud (low water level) to launch.
Also...State to State maybe different...but here in Nev. and Calif. on I80 if you have 4X4 you generally get waived thru when the chain controls (snow&ice) are in effect.
NOW....IMO....4X4 does not have alot better traction on ICE..so without chains..you have to be very careful...If they require chains on my 4X4 to get thru i might just park it.
Yeah, gotta figure extra cost for 4X4, but you usually get alittle more when you trade or sale..so you might get some of that investment back.
BTW...you might get alittle less mpg...but dont think that outweights the benefits of 4X4!
Good luck....OT

He is SO RIGHT seen alot of people having trouble pulling the boat OUT I knew a guy who put a hitch on the FRONT because of the headaches pulling up the ramps
