98' f-150

Hey guys, first off I would like to say nice forum you have here . A lady I work with is telling me her husband is selling his 1998 Stepside F-150, and is asking 5000 for it. It drives good (I know personally) and seems to be very well taken care of. The truck has 101,000 miles on it, but the oil and all has beene changed religiously she says. There are two places where it has been keyed (not very noticeable) and the left view mirror has a chunk missing from the bottom (the plastic piece). I would really appreciate any advice here, thanks yall!

XL, XLT, Lariat, ?
4.2, 4.6, 5.4?
Auto or manual?
Standard or extended cab?
4x2 or 4x4?
Short or long bed?
What optional equipment?

Without knowing all that, I'd say the price is too high, it's worth more like $3500.

Find out as much as you can about it and see what the KBB value is.
i got mine a year ago for $6900, and its a '97 XLT 4x4 and it had 111,000 miles at the time and also came with speakers and small subwoofer. but keep in mind, truck prices are down right now too. you could probably get something with less miles for a little bit more

More info....

XLT
4x4
Automatic
Standard Cab
I believe it is a short bed, like I said, it is a step-side
Still unsure of the engine, V8 but I don't know what liter, maybe you could give me a price for each liter.

Additional info is that is has a cd player put in, power windows/steering, hvac, and it has the little bars under the door to give you a step on it. Thanks!

not a bad price, could be better, sounds overall like a good deal.

fairly low mileage for a 98, should be about 125,000 on it

and the flareside bed is 6.5' bed the shortest bed without being on a supercrew truck

I sold my 1998 F150 Super Cab in January, 2008. My truck had 98K miles on it and was a little better condition than you describe.
I got $5,400.00 cash for it less than 12 hours after the ad appeared on the Internet. In that time, I had 3 interested buyers.
The standard cab is worth less money. Not sure if the stepside adds value. The 4x4 is probably worth more. I also think truck prices have dropped a lot since early this year because of gas prices.
I think your price is simply OK, not great. Search on Truck Trader to see what others are asking. It is hard to find a truck with the miles you see. After 10 years, most of these trucks are way over the 100K mark.
