Ye know, I sure wish they wuz a way ta "regulate" the votin' process a might better'n whut we got. 
Maybe something like this:
Folks cain't vote 'less they's been a member fer "X" number of days, months, etc - At the very least, they can't vote unless their join date is prior to the date the corntest went live.
OR (and this'n's probably more doable) - Folks cain't vote 'less they's got "X" number of posts. Fer that matter, and this is just my humble opinion, contestants must have "X" number of votes befer they can be "contestants".
I dunno...just a-thankin' out loud here. Because it shore does looky like they's been some shenanigans afoot.

OK, guys, yes, if someone has recruited friends to sign up just to vote, that is very unsportsmanlike. This is supposed to be a fun, laidback contest, and invariably, some take it too seriously.
On the other hand, some of the "suspect voters" may just be new members. New members are being encouraged to vote as a way to get them to start participating in the site. Straighten out your panties and relax a bit.
