Post Warranty Dilemma on LS Swapout

I apologize about starting another thread about this, but I want as much advice as possible. I have decided to swapout my open diff. for a Ford limited slip (at a Ford dealership). I have 13k left on my factory warranty on my 2000 F-150.

I called Ford Customer Service TWICE to make sure it didn't void the warranty, they said it was ok. Asked the Ford dealership, they said it was ok. Ordered the part for $600+. Scheduled to have it installed this Thursday.

I come home today to a message from Ford Customer Service stating they researched the issue, and they consider ANY modification done after the truck has left the factory (even by Ford dealers) as an aftermarket modification. Therefore, if the modified part damages a factory part, they will not fix the factory part.

The advice I need from you guys - What do I do? How do Ford dealerships warranty their work, is their a time limit? It would seem that if the factory determined that the installed part caused damage to a factory part, the dealer would be reasonable for fixing any damaged parts from his incorrect installation.

I could wait on this installation, but I've already paid (I don't know if I can talk parts into refunding my money). I already rescheduled I bunch of stuff so as to be off on Thursday to get the work done.

More importantly than what I should do, what would you guys do, what would you do, max? My thinking is even if I did have to pay for some failed component out of my own pocket what could an improper installation really damage? I doubt the entire drivetrain, maybe the axles? but I could spot a lubricant leak or the like.

Anyway, any advice is appreciated. Thanks a million. I knew something like this would happen.

Cool

Go for it the only way the new differential could cause a problem is if it were to lock up. If it runs ok for the first 100 miles with no whine and no leaks then it will be OK for the next 100,000 and lots more. Do not accept the job if the differential makes any noise of vibration.
