Question E4OD trans to C6

Is it possible to swap an E4OD trans for a C6?
I have a 1991 F-250 4x4 and this is my 3rd E4OD trans.I hear C6's are bullet proof.
Thanks,
Jerry D

An E4OD is pretty much a C6 with an OD. Except a C6 is not elctronicly controlled.

the C-6 has basially the same parts as an E4OD below the center support, but the E4OD parts are generally upgraded, the E4OD is the more bullit proof of the two by a longshot. The C-6 won't connect to the computer because it wasn't computer controlled, you could do it, but it's a pretty involved swap and it doesn't make any sense, really.

G,
The trans in my truck (E4OD) is shot and i could get a good deal on a rebuilt C6 W/ convertor.
What should i do about the wiring harnesses that plug in to the E4OD when i put the C6 in?

I hear alot of horror stories aout the E4OD.

you'll need to convert the engine and the PCM to a mechanical system (no computer for the tranny), like I said, it's pretty involved, you'll need to drill vaccum lines into the intake etc...I can't imagine any deal being good enough to try it. Get a 4R100 (E4OD) from a 97 back truck and do that instead, it'll be worth it in the long run. Or that's what I would do.

The other issue is that the C6 doesn't have OD or a lock-up converter, so your fuel mileage will go into the toilet. The C6 also requires a huge cooler because of the converter.

I had an 88 F250 4x4 with a C6 and I always wanted a E4OD. I guess the grass is always greener...

Well,OD isn't really needed, this truck is for around town and off road use only.
I'm gonna install the C-6 this morning.I'll let you know how i make out.
I hope this trans can handle the abuse of those 39" Super Swampers.

All went well.
The C6 is in and is working great. It took alittle modifying (move the cross member up,adjust shift linkage, and lengthen my rear drive shaft)
Well,thanks for the help again!
