Hard shift into 2nd

Hard shift into 2nd
I've had an unbelievably hard shift into 2nd gear for quite sometime now in my 4R70W. I talked to the service department and they said it's the Transmission Range Sensor. Has anyone else replaced this part yet? Is it easy to do?
Thanks

If the shift is late, and it revs high it may by the intermediate one-way clutch.
The other thing that causes this is the spring on the 1-2 accumulator breaks, lots of earlier 4R70Ws had this problem. The spring that controls the rate is broke and the thing shifts real hard. If you want a shift kit, that is one thing you can do to shift it harder.
FORGOT to answer the sensor question. If the trans range sensor is going bad you usually get all kinds of wierd shift patterns. If all you are having is a hard 1-2 shift then look at the stuff above. The accumulator spring can be replaced by dropping the pan. Go to www.tccoa.com and look for the tranny 101 article. Its got lots of good stuff.
