4R70W 4 WD trans.pan ?????
I was just wondering, I have a 2000 2WD truck with the 4R70W trans. Is the 4WD version of this transmission the same or is it deeper and have a drain plug??? I would like to install a pan with a drain plug and perhaps more capacity( deeper ) on my truck to simplify fluid cahnges. I know that B&M makes one that would probably work. Any comments or suggestions from anybody??? Anybody used the B&M deep pan with plug??? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks....

gah: Is the drainpan stainless, chrome or what? I've seen chrome ones that are finned and add about 3 quarts. I would like to do the same thing. I also have the 4r70w.

the pan is cast aluminum. There are a couple of "posts" in the bottom of the pan to support the trans filter so you don't need any kind of pickup extension. If I ever sell my truck, the pan is coming with me ...

I'm new to replacing the trans. pan, so what are the benefits of replacing the stock one and does anyone have pics of what they look like? Also, ya'll say that they are extra deep. Would this not be good for an offroad vehicle that needs ground clearance? Any help would be appreciated.

Here's a B&M pan on an F-250 or F-350, I forget which. The trans is a 4R100 and not a 4R70W but you get the idea.
B&M trans pan
The B&M pan has no effect on ground clearance, and it could withstand a much greater force than the factory steel pan. The B&M unit is very strong.
The benefits include increased ATF capacity, a drain plug, fins for cooling, increased strength, and of course great looks.
